Publisher’s note

Leanne Tlhagoane Publisher Fashion handbook South Africa
Summer is more than a seasonal trend for the Southern hemisphere.
It’s a MOOD for most of the year, a lifestyle and a way to live. And for this reason it should be at the forefront of our fashion thinking, creating and designing. It’s possible to become the global tastemakers of summer fashion, style and textile and in so doing inspire the rest of the world.
In the latest Fashion Handbook summer ’19 issue, it’s all about delighting in the colours, the flavours and lifestyle of the Southern hemisphere. It’s also about doubling down on our local fashion landscape, where we consider three key areas: what it will take to progress the local fashion industry comprising fashion insider views, local Streetwear’s next steps and what heritage textiles mean in contemporary fashion today.

In an interview with a designer who has been in the business of Modest Fashion long before it became fashionable we once again spotlight its progression within our market. Plus, new global developments on sustainability and other pertinent information on the topic is highlighted and deserves our urgent attention.
In the comprehensive guide to fashion and designer brands many new featured designers are to be found in the directory list. Let’s buy, wear and promote local fashion everyday.
