What if we flipped the script and said that if you feel good, you look good.
If you are healthy and well, and nurture your body from the inside out, you tend to look and feel even better.
You get that glowing skin, extra energy and sparkle in the eyes. No dieting, Botox injections or fullers, just simple acts of kindness toward yourself that will have you feeling fantastic and radiating all kinds of hot this summer.
Here are a few self-care tips to get you flowing through summer like that cool sea breeze.

Create a morning routine. Wake-up every morning and focus on yourself. Do something that makes you smile, that gives you joy and sets your mood and intention for the rest of the day. This could be meditation and yoga or waking up to watch the sun rise, a morning stroll or simply sitting outside and taking in the view for as far as yours eyes can see. This particular exercise helps with stretching your eyes into seeing abundance and being grateful for all that surrounds you.
Swap coffee for tea.Tea has a long history. People have been drinking it for centuries. In some cultures drinking it is a ritual, in others it is an art. There is some ancient wisdom that can be harnessed from these cultures by slowing down and taking your time to have a cup of tea. By making it a ritual. To stop and take in the aroma, to feel the warmth as it touches your lips and smell the flavour as you sip it. This makes you more mindful and brings you back to the present moment. Drinking tea has also been scientifically proven to have a number of health benefits due to the antioxidants it contains. There are a variety of flavours to choose from each with its own unique health benefits.
Go barefoot.Take a few minutes to walk outside on grass or sand barefoot. This is also known as ‘earthing’. It gives you a sense of grounding and connectedness to earth. And it’s not some way out trend; it’s a scientifically researched practice with many health benefits such as reducing inflammation and improving sleep.
Try something new. Take an art class, a cooking lesson or even aerial yoga. Step outside of your comfort zone and learn something new. Trying new things helps you diminish any fears of being in the unknown and allows you to expand your mind to learn new things. Get some friends together to make it more fun, or meet new people there. Either way, getting your hands dirty in the name of art or your body moving in unexpected ways, will give you the opportunity to experience something different and possibly even learn something you didn’t know about yourself.
Give your time to someone in need. Give back. Researchers have been measuring the benefits of giving for some time now and their findings reveal that it helps reduce stress and depression. In a 2006 study by neuroscientist Jorge Moll it was found that when people give to charities, it activates regions of the brain associated with pleasure and trust, creating a “warm glow” effect-that “good” feeling. Giving of your time is even more beneficial because you connect with others on a human level and it leaves you feeling happy.
Get your energy moving. While at home, try this Feng shui trick. Move 27 things in your home. You can pick it up and put it back in the same place, or move it around, or even better, throw it out and clear out. This small action creates a subtle energetic shift. It helps you feel unstuck and it’s one of those little things that leads to something bigger further down the road.
Create rather than consume. Take a mini digital detox. Instead of mindlessly scrolling through your phone, focus on your vision and ideas. Share your creativity, even if it’s one other person out there that you’re motivating and inspiring that’s enough. It’s a feel good motivator that gives you that extra burst of energy.
Whether you choose to use all of these tips or just one, the most important thing is to take care of your mental, emotional and physical health this summer, be safe and have fun.
